IS THIS YOUR SECOND SATURN RETURN TOO?
If you were born in 1948, 1949 or 1950, your second Saturn Return in Virgo is coming up ... just like the city of Manhattan and the countries of Mongolia and Iran.
A country or entity can have a birth chart just like a person! Countries, entities and people carry around the energy of their birth moment for the rest of their lives, developing it out in the macro you might say. Your life is the moment of your birth writ large.
Let's take a moment to look at the birth of these two countries and the city of Manhattan. It will help you understand yourself better when you realize that you are walking around with this same basic energy.
How are you using it? Let's see what happened to Mongolia and Iran. Let's check in on Manhattan, too. These places are having their second Saturn Return right now, too.

In a way there aren't so many famous people with Saturn in Virgo because Virgo is absolutely not about fame or doing something to be noticed or acknowleged. As each sign on the wheel -- Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces -- complements or completes the one right before it, Virgo is compensating for the excesses of Leo, the sign that will do anything for attention.
You can click through on most of them to find out more about the person, including the degree of their Saturn. You can use the 28-30 yr old CHARTS or the 58-60 yr old CHARTS to discover some very general things about your SR in Virgo group and these CHARTS to find out the dates of your first Saturn Return. ESSENTIAL VIRGINITY
In the Astrology of Fate Liz Greene treats the sign Virgo so thoroughly and truly, possibly because her own Sun is in Virgo, that I recommend you read this boook absoliutely for an in depth understanding. I will paraphrase by saying that Greene explains ... Virgo struggles with opposites throughout life - marriage and independence, spirituality and materialism, morality and abandonment - trying to encompass them both and that there is "an inner need to live from one's own values rather than from the values of others."
As for the symbolic virgin of the sign, Greene herself comments that the word "virgin" was not originally synonymous with "chaste.... the prostitute is the same as the mythic virgin for she is an archetypal image of the free woman who is wedded first of all to her inner being and only secondarily to a man."
How will you work with this energy in your lifetime?
The prominent virgin goddesses in ancient Greek and Roman astrology were Diana and Athena. Of course there were also the Vestal Virgins, ritual temple priestesses.
Not technically virgins, Diana, Goddess of the Moon, roamed the woods with her hunting hounds. Athena was the Goddess of Just Wars. Athens was a strategist and artisan. Neither of these goddesses let their identity flow from marriage and motherhood.
In some way this energy gets expressed with those who have Saturn in Virgo. They may begin life borrowing identities and values but eventually this becomes painful. As integrity grows, each person with Saturn in Virgo must become their own person on their own terms. It is at the first Saturn Return that this difficult birth should occur. The task set by the first Saturn Return spreads out over the next thirty years, until the second Return but the theme, the choices, the agony, the blind endings all occur betwee 28 and 30.

 REDEMPTION
Saturn in Virgo is also about redemption. The act of forgiveness figures prominently in true redemption. This usually occurs after a period of genuine suffering such as that experienced by Robert de Niro in The Mission. Rent this movie and contemplate.
Forgiveness need not occur through religion but is a natural human process. Forgiveness is for your own sake, not the other person's. That's something some of you may struggle with for many years.
Is there someone in your life you need to forgive? Sometimes it's just getting over the Virgo need to fix everyone for their perceived imperfections. Sometimes it's bigger than that.
Another good example is Tim Bayliss' act of forgiveness for the uncle who sexually abused him in Homicide.

Bayliss played by Kyle Secor
HEALTH AND HEALING
As with all Saturn signs, those with Saturn in Virgo are either the best or worst examples regarding health. The ultimate goal is to take responsibility for one's own health, growing to realize it is not the doctor's health or the government's health but your own responsibility. Lifestyle choices, alternative (natural) healing modes and preventive health care are big issues. As those of your generation reach positions of power and influence, we may expect to see big changes.
An example of this is how attitudes toward smoking have created an entirely different atmosphere around personal and corporate responsibility over the past thirty years. Similar change is taking place today regarding obesity
Many of you are also natural healers, capable of layig-on-of-hands healing. Many of you are gifted, perhaps INFP personality types. I am quoting below Keirsey's description of this type and invite you to learn more about Jungian based personality systems here.
"Healer Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in striving for their ends, and investigative and attentive in their interpersonal relations. Healer present a seemingly tranquil, and noticiably pleasant face to the world, and though to all appearances they might seem reserved, and even shy, on the inside they are anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. They care deeply-indeed, passionately-about a few special persons or a favorite cause, and their fervent aim is to bring peace and integrity to their loved ones and the world.
"Healers have a profound sense of idealism derived from a strong personal morality, and they conceive of the world as an ethical, honorable place. Indeed, to understand Healers, we must understand their idealism as almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. The Healer is the Prince or Princess of fairytale, the King's Champion or Defender of the Faith, like Sir Galahad or Joan of Arc. Healers are found in only 1 percent of the general population, although, at times, their idealism leaves them feeling even more isolated from the rest of humanity.
"Healers seek unity in their lives, unity of body and mind, emotions and intellect, perhaps because they are likely to have a sense of inner division threaded through their lives, which comes from their often unhappy childhood. Healers live a fantasy-filled childhood, which, unfortunately, is discouraged or even punished by many parents. In a practical-minded family, required by their parents to be sociable and industrious in concrete ways, and also given down-to-earth siblings who conform to these parental expectations, Healers come to see themselves as ugly ducklings. Other types usually shrug off parental expectations that do not fit them, but not the Healers. Wishing to please their parents and siblings, but not knowing quite how to do it, they try to hide their differences, believing they are bad to be so fanciful, so unlike their more solid brothers and sisters. They wonder, some of them for the rest of their lives, whether they are OK. They are quite OK, just different from the rest of their family-swans reared in a family of ducks. Even so, to realize and really believe this is not easy for them. Deeply committed to the positive and the good, yet taught to believe there is evil in them, Healers can come to develop a certain fascination with the problem of good and evil, sacred and profane. Healers are drawn toward purity, but can become engrossed with the profane, continuously on the lookout for the wickedness that lurks within them. Then, when Healers believe thay have yielded to an impure temptation, they may be given to acts of self-sacrifice in atonement. Others seldom detect this inner turmoil, however, for the struggle between good and evil is within the Healer, who does not feel compelled to make the issue public."
The ancient mystery and healing cults of Greece may be of special interest. The Greek God that healed was Apollo. Asklepios was his priest and hygeia, pictured below, was Asklepios' daughter.

Healing with herbs, crystals, laying-on-of-hands, energy work, therapeutic massage, nutrition and healing diets are all the natural province of Saturn in Virgo. You may all start out as the greatest skeptics and end being great healers.
For many, healing will take place through a resurrected undertanding of the mind/body connection: all illness is mental illness.
THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN FAITH AND WORKS
For some of you, doubt and worry are a way of life. All sorts of little rituals are used to protect yourself from fears and phobios, sometimes to the extent of ACD or compulsive disorders.
Sometimes I feel like telling someone with Saturn in Virgo not to worry is like telling water to run uphill. It can be overcome through finding inner peace which is a lifelong journey for each of you.
p.s. I do more psychic readings for Virgo than any other sign. This is my psychic website: BeMyGuide
RITUAL AND WORK AS RITUAL
Rituals are natural to Saturn in Virgo, though this may not be recognized. Cleaning house is a ritual. Going every Sunday morning to the Swap Meet is a ritual.
Many of you are true pagans, earth worshippers and nature spirits. You are interested in pure water, fresh air and clean, healthy bodies.
The nature religions such as WICCA and paganism may provide a welcome avenue for expression as well as working in the field of ecology and ergonomics.
Carried to its logical extension your group understands that work is ritual. Some of you will carry the concept of avocation to its heights.
LESS IS MORE
Your group understands that less is more and that space informs. Anything minimalistic is yours! If you are accused of micromanaging or knitpicking, you are holding the telescope by the wrong end.
DIVINE DISCONTENT OR INSANITY?
This sculpture shows the divine discontent bound to occur to Saturn in Virgo. For awhile everything is nailed down, neat, tidy and in good working order. Then something happens and you're swimming in an ocean of currents and tides. All those intricate walls you built to cubby hole everything in (a place for everything anf everything in its place) are suddenly washed away and your certainy dissolves into oblivion. Congratulations! Your lifework has just begun. The task at hand will be the cooperate with this process of taking everything apart anf putting it back together again. This must be done with your whole self this time, not just with your beautiful mind.
People with beautiful minds, and I refer lovingly to the movie about John Nash by that name, are vulnerable to discovering that chaos theory is not just a theory. Remember this as alll you once had nailed down starts to fly loose and flap away in the hurricanes or breezes of change.
Isaac Asimov, the great science fiction writer, puts this truth in a backhanded manner. The subtlety of his statement, as follows, could only come with someone who has explored all the tiniest little recesses of the mind ... taken it apart and put it back together again. He said, " Creationists make it sound as though a 'theory' is something you dreamt up after being drunk all night."
For more quotes from Asimov, click here.
Sometimes -- and Saturn Return is as good a time as any -- your whole world will seem like it's turn out to be or turned into the "bad dream of a drunken wo/man". It now becomes your task to reorganize your life along lines of higher principles. This time the organizational principles must be elegant and wholistic.
MONKS AND NUNS
Many of you are nuns and monks by nature, preferring to live alone or in monastic-like communities. There is nothing "wrong" with this. It is a choice many conscious people make. The relationships are there. They are just sister/brother in orientation as when St. Francis speaks of Brother Sun/Sister Moon. Living alone on the other hand often contributes to the contemplative orientation of Saturn in Virgo, the need for peace and order in which to do so.

SLAVE AND MASTER
A side that isn't spoken of so often is the need for Saturn in Virgo to explore the relationship between slave and master. This grows out of the need to serve and is a step along the way to getting it just right.
When I see someone like Katie Holmes, who has Saturn in Virgo, I want to remind her that she is only as great as the master she serves.
We should all properly aspire to acknowledging God or the Hhigher Power as our master and not another human being.
Ask yourself: who do I serve?
Now let's look at some "lived" examples of some of these principles.
You're Only as Great as the Master You Serve
|
| |

Even the tabloids are commenting on Tom Cruise's "enslavement" of Katie Holmes. Perhaps Posh is now playing the same role.
What makes a person so easily engulfed and influenced by another?
Sometimes it's lack of a core sense of self called "integrity". People who haven't developed a strong sense of self will be drawn to masters such as the military, a demanding and overbearing spouse, in some cases a monastery. This is what I call "summer camp mentality". Each day you get the schedule someone else created and you follow it.
The truth is to have integrity we have to find ourselves and be ourselves. We need to know what rules work for us and when to change them if necessary. We can't abdicate this responsibility to others as is the temptation of Saturn in Virgo.

Wracked with Self Doubt |
| |

Mario Lanza was a great tenor who would now be experiencing his third Saturn Return. During his first Saturn Return he became so wracked with self doubt due to wicked criticism from others who were jealous that he refused to perform at all. He died an untimely death several years later. You may have heard his voice in The Student Prince.
With Saturn in Virgo, learn how to deal with criticism without letting it tear you apart of debilitate you from sharing your talent with the world.

How Do You Use Your Imagination?
|
| |
Fears and phobias are te resultof using the powers of the imagination negatively. Instead try positive thinking or replacing a negative thought with a positive one.
|
Worry, Prayer or Peace of Mind |
| |
Faith is a critical Virgo task and orientation. Many people think that pray is asking for something and asking for something is wrong. Others wait to pray until a situation is so desperate that their prayer is really a form of compulsive worry.
Learn more about conscious prayer here: The Golden Key.

Economy |
| |
Inside everyone with Saturn in Virgo is a born efficiency expert. Let's face it, in any group you are the ones that really know the best way to proceed and the most efficient way to process and complete the task at hand. The question then becomes, do you have the confidence to come forward with this?

The Perfect Little Victorian Child ... or ...
Yes, Virginia, There is No Santa Claus

Children with Saturn in Virgo can be a little too perfect. The rebellion that is a natural part of adolescence, separating from parents, can be one extreme or the other. Often they are overly concerned with knowing "what the rules are", missing that important step where they question rules from a personal standpoint having to do with maturing and developing integrity.
If you've adhered too closely to rules handed down by well meaning others, the first Saturn Return can be a time when all these rules suddenly seem to fail. An example of this might be you were told or understood that being a good person meant nothing bad would happen to you. Or maybe you believed that bad things didn't happen to good people. Maybe you thought that competent people (like you) were always recognized and promoted only to see yourself ignored where lies and laziness were rewarded. Another example would be that you were taught to respect elders and people in authority only to discover that some of these people didn't really deserve your respect.
Testing your ideals against reality and developing a new set of more realistic rules derived from your own trial and error experience is an important life task for Saturn in Virgo during the first Saturn Return.
Some of you may have rules that are too narrow for maturity. There can be issues with prioritizing or seeing the forest for the trees. For example, always returning library books on time is great but it doesn't equate as a success strategy with learning how to steer clear of office gossip or knowing how to strike back appropriately when you are set up or wronged.
A big part of Saturn Return for Saturn in Virgo is admitting (at long last) that no matter what your ideals, no matter what the rules, there are nasty eople in this world who don't follow the same rules and who will take advantage of you if you look at life too narrowly or idealistically. The truth is someone may steal your library book or your job or your spouse if your goody two shoes ways don't change.
Some of the other hand are sanctimonious and "holier than thou". This is a toxic personality choice having nothing to do with spiritual or healthy personal development.

Haute or Haughty Couture ? |

Saturn in Virgo can have very subtle and sophisticated fashion sense as well ability to critque and edit. The challenge is to do this without contempt or impatiance for those you are guiding and whose taste you wish to shape.

Addiction to Perfection |
| |
|
"I'm Late, I'm Late, for a Very Important Date!"

If you can't get it perfect you can procrastinate....
More Saturn in Virgo issues:
The curse of perfectionism.
In a few fields, like brain surgery and diamond cutting, you can fine tune this characteristic and hammer it home. If you want to become "the Expert", that's another positivr use of the energy.
If you're a regular person, however, perfectionism can be toxic enough to ruin the quality of your life and relationships. If this sounds like you, you'll need to take a lifetime to learn when enough IS enough, to leave well enough alone and not to fix it when its working.
If your friends accuse you of micro-managing, if you have ulcers or facial ticks, if you're bulimic or have a constantly upset stomach, you're a Saturn in Virgo kid who needs to learn the difference between perfection and perfected.

Addiction to Perfection Forum
If addiction to perfection helps you understand yourself better, you may discover other outlets for this intense energy such as compulsive hand washing, going back home to check if the lights are out, turning the light switch on and off ... many thing characteristic of compulsive disorders.
There may also be issues that are anal-compulsive such as freaking out ober germs, invisible things, phobias and the like.
Especially with Saturn i n Virgo, try alternative healing. Many phobias are based on past life experiences. Rebirthing is an excellent wait to clear out old patterns and refresh the psyche for a brand new look at life.
If you have Saturn in Virgo it may be real hard to "let go and let God" but that's the aim. (Your cork could be in too tight most of the time.)
As you let go and let God, always remember that God's presence within is your constant source of hope and love. The following affirmations from Daily Word will help you refocus during difficult times. Repeat them silently or aloud and feel the peace of God embracing you:
-
God is the source of limitless good that is continually blessing me.
-
I am flexible as I allow God's plan to emerge and evolve.
-
I let go and let my faith in God carry me through.
-
With a silent, heartfelt prayer, I let go and let God heal my relationships.
-
I let go and let God, knowing that the source of all good is in charge.
If you don't believe in God you're going to have find something bigger than yourself, better than prescription drugs and more powerful than your small Self to turn things over to, lest you worry yourself to death. The kind of stress you put on yourself can be killer stress.
