i have the strength and desire to get up every day and do what kindness I can for my fellow human beings. I have a son with bipolar disorder who lives with me. I have been supporting him since April. His moods range from anger and violence to suicidal depression. He looks to me as his anchor. I work with people in pain. I listen. I love. I do what little I can. My family is remote, distant. The only true relationship I have is with myself and God. The bright spots are few and far between. And yet, day after day, I get up to do what kindness I can.

I pick the Massachusetts Supreme Court, as well as the many elected officials (such as Jason West, the Mayor of New Paltz, NY) who take stands against the unethical, fear-and-hate-mongering Bush Administration; the presidential administration that has increasingly and most blatantly and unabashedly violated the 1st and 14th Amendments to the Constitution. For general reference, the 1st Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." And the 14th Amendement: "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." In other words, individuals and private organizations, whether sacred or secular, have the right to discriminate, but our local and federal governments do not. The Massachusetts Supreme Court finally recognized the inescapable reality of the two above referenced Amendments and abolished sexual discrimination as far as legal marriage/unions go. Don't forget the antimiscegenation law, which stated that interracial marriages were illegal. I think it is noteworthy that, in March of 1966, the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals upheld this law, and only in June of 1967 did the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously rule the law unconstitutional (Loving vs. Virginia). So, in 1967, the 16 states which still had antimiscegenation laws on their books were forced to erase them. That was less than forty years ago. As far as the Consitution, the courts, and local and federal governments go, denying adult same-sex couples legal marriage/union rights is no different than denying adult interracial couples legal marriage/union rights. As the 1st Amendement promises, this does not affect individuals' and private organizations' (such as places of worship) rights to make such differences and discriminate as they see fit. I thank all goodness that one judicial body in Massacusetts finally recognized and started to enforce everyone's Constitutional rights.

Also for his rousing speech at the Republican Convention, it was inspiring and so very American in my book. He really said something that a lot of young people under the age of 50 needed to hear and let sink in, in reforming their patrotism to this country.

Inspite of a $450,000,000,000 annual deficit, 2 million jobs lost and a pointless war that has no hopes of ending soon, he managed to get re-elected (legally this time). He is the poster boy for ESF-types and introverts, regardless of political affilliations, need to learn from this man. Actually, there is a very important point there. Mr. Kerry, being an INFJ was not able to communicate his message as well as Mr. Bush. In truth, Mr. Kerry did not even seem to understand that people needed to hear what that message was. He was never a leader in the Senate, even though he worked hard for many issues. INFJ's need a cause, as Kerry's anti-war protests in the 70's. INFJ/INTJ's tend to be more active in the background and do not promote themselves as well as ESTJ or even ENTJ types.
