Recommmended Movies

MERCHANT OF VENICE (2005)

This is just such a fantastic movie. Al Pacino loves Shakespeare and it certainly shows. The introvert in this movie is beautifully played by Jeremy Irons, indeed, "the Merchant".

KING KONG (2005)

"It was beauty killed the beast."
Ebert's review
I think this is an infp love story.

TROY (2004)

I have used Troy to illustrate the classic Sun Signs. Click here.

BIG FISH (2004)

This is a wonderful story of the world of intuition, myth, symbols and love ... at the end you will ask yourself, "Well, really, what is 'real'?"

The Russian Ark (2003)

Not yet available at home but see it at a theater if you can. As Roger Ebert says, this is one of the greatest sustained ideas in art. The Russian Ark is the Hermitage, protecting culture and history for better times to come.

Lord of the Rings (2002)
The first of this three part series has been released. The portrayals of wizards and their magical powers are especially accurate and inspiring, though highly dramatized, of course.

.
The Red Violin (2000)
dvd
Ann Bussotti's soul guides the violin through 3 centuries reminding us of the energy that collects in objects including jewelry, furniture and clothing. This is a very passionate and romantic movie.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
cover dvd
Chinese Wuxia warriors approximate quite accurately what it feels like to leave your body for such things as martial arts, time travel, distance viewing and general cosmic good times.
Read the review by Roger Ebert - click here - here calls it "the most exhilarating martial arts movie I've seen" and gives it ****.

Fanny and Alexander (1983)
amazon.com (video only)

Bergman's Swan Song, it's a marvelous look at life from every possible perspective. Some of my favorite scenes include a genuine magician (the Jewish purveyor) and his nephew, who gives one of the best portrayals of a "sensitive" I have ever seen.

7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1964)
cover dvd
"Give this underappreciated gem a try" and put a little more magic in your world forever after. Dr. Lao visits a small town in the west and gives the inhabitants a chance to live and grow.

Roshomon (1951)
cover dvd
One reviewer says of Roshomon: I saw this when I was about 16 or so and it had a decisive influence on my perception of truth and reality from that moment onwards.
amazon.com review: This 1950 film by Akira Kurosawa is more than a classic: it's a cinematic archetype that has served as a template for many a film since. (Its most direct influence was on a Western remake, The Outrage ...).
Nancy's Note: This is an old movie but don't be mislead. It is an absolute classic, one of a kind. Once you've see it, you'll hear about it everywhere in the film world.

Look up the charts of your favorite movie stars. It's also a pretty good idea to buy the AstroDatabank program if you can afford it. It depends on how much research you like to do.

Where chart interpretation is concerned, what are the qualities that make a movie star? Look especially at the Ascendant and Midheaven areas. Neptune features heavily as does Leo and the 5th house.
