So you're going on 60! It's time for your second Saturn Return.
The second Saturn Return is a very critical and interesting time and if there is any transit in astrology that deserves the serious full attention of an experienced astrologer it is this one.
I especially enjoy doing second Saturn Return readings because the person has something to look forward to ... and something to look back on. It is fascinating to hear people reflect on their lives according to pivotal turning events. We connect the dots to find out how close we have stayed to our path and purpose in life.
The first thing we do is look back on your first Saturn Return, which
occurred when you were 28-30 years old. We identify the main issues
and reflect on events that took place near that time.
If you took action, chances are you will be building on the outworkings of that decision successfully in the second Return.
If, on the other hand, you failed to seize the opportunity :-) you will be getting another chance in some subtle way that you will have to recognize during your second Saturn Return. I can help you with this in a full reading if you feel you are still confused. Making analogies and comparison like this is an important part of developing intuition and being guided by metaphysical principles.
If you didn't act during the first Return, taking action during the second is going to be difficult, very stressful at an age when one is more vulnerable physically, but failure to take action at the second Saturn Return can, I'm sorry to say, result in such stress that serious health problems ensue.
As we look
around us, those of us who are experiencing our second Returns, we see
some of our classmates and friends falling by the wayside. The assumption
would be that their lives in some way failed to become authentic and
the stress of living a lie becomes too much for them. These are the
laws of the universe, pure and simple. The best book on this subject is The Astrology of Fate by Thorwald Dethlefson.
The task at hand is to reach for what is real and meaningful, no matter
what it costs you in terms of change and disruption, if you did not
do this back in the 70s or 80s when you were approaching 30. I will give you
these exact dates in your mini-reading,
On the other hand, if you made some valid choices at your first Saturn
Return, despite the pressure and stress, review them and where the path you chose has taken you. Then
you will see how to "build out" on that. If you were generally
successful at navigating the first Return, the second one is relatively
easy and it is about giving back from that harvest.
Here is a sample reply I made for a mini-second Saturn Return reading. This person had Saturn in Cancer.
My guess is that your issues had to do with getting in touch with your feelings. Your chart shows tremendous frustration and pain in this area and a childhood which left you more or less grasping for straws where emotions, well being and nurturing are cioncerned.
Likely you were forced to be stoically self sufficient, to act like a little grownup, to deny any natural needs as if that were a weakness, and to fight down the intense frustration this caused you as best you could. It seems like no one in your environment had the patience to listen to you talk about your feelings and as a result you may still have trouble expressing them and/or experience breathing difficulties like asthma, tendency toward bronchitis, etc.
There seems to have been some intense competition for even what little nurturing was available within the family framework, though your relationships with siblings seems positive. Pehaps your mother felt you cut her out of your father's affections or something of that sort so she was a little cold toward you. Just a hypothesis....
Your self image is a good barometer of your emotional health and the ways you're growing. The emphasis in your chart is very Cancerian -- far more than most with Saturn in Cancer. You also have Mars in Cancer, rising. You have Cancer Rising, And you have three beautiful planets in the 4th house including the Sun. Nesting, nurturing and feeling good and safe in the world are your life path. Hopefully you have created some of this for yourself which requires learning how to provide the emotional support for yourself that you were not given as a child. You have tremendous spiritual reserves which are your greatest inner resources. Meditation could be especially meaningful for you.
If you have been making sacrifices for others who rely on how stoic and resourceful you are -- that you won't give up no matter what -- it might be time to take a look at the balance in relationships. Without healing, you will tend to attract weak people who know that when push comes to shove you never quit and that they can count on you to handle the difficult parts of life. This is manifestly unfair to you and if you are trading that for what seems like "love" this could be a time of painful but necessary self awareness which will allow you to make wiser choices in the future. Your chart is all about self nurturing and then receiving emotional support from others, as appropriate, based on your improved ability to nurture yourself.

Being born in Europe in 1945 was a fate right there unto itself, wasn't it?!? I hope you have read my series of articles on Saturn in Cancer, this one in particular, as it deals with war children: THE FAMILY OF MANl
World War II is over, but those of us born right at the end have a lifetime to process it :-), to "live it out".
You have health, self expression and creative concerns and must reach for these areas no matter what if there is pressure, I mean if there are difficult choices, still you must make them. For you, sometimes the smallest things are the most important, so you might concentrate on your daily routine and making it work for you no matter what changes you have to make. This will lead to very large changes indeed.
Also think back to Saturn Return #1 which started for you in July 1974 ... what were the issues, choices and decisions then? What went through your mind? Are there any similiarities?
If you failed to seize the opportunity in '74, it will be presenting itself again in some form, though more difficult of course. This is for you to discover, the similiarity, which I can help you with, and to have the courage to make changes this time, no matter what.
You must have learned a lot about the intensities and passions of love in these past 30 years. It is likely some integration will now occur for you to see that pasison and intensity may be balanced by other things in a long term relationship such as nurturing and a familial kind of caring. It looks like love and relationships are areas where you will continue to grow all during your life and this is no exception.
If you have held yourself aloof from people for some reason, drop more of your guard, let them closer, surround yourself with a circle of admirers. Let people be near you, old people, young people .. and share what you have learned about life in positive ways. Mentoring is a valuable part of life in the 60's but especially for you because you have so much love to give and can feel a special connection with so many different people, especially younger people!

I must confess I have been absolutely amazed at how my second Return has recapitulated my first in very subtle but very important ways. It is one thing to read about it in a book and quite another to go through the experience personally. This is the value of having an older astrologer do your reading for you.
My second Return has helped me put things in perspective and the events have encouraged me to review earlier decisions as to their appropriateness. Knowing my astrology chart has helped immensely. Astrology is so directive and specific. I mean it offers genine insight.

I've read through the report this morning and find it great as a reminder and support to all we spoke of last night. I am so relieved at the clarity you've brought to my situation and I surely left with a renewed motivation to quit messing about. What a relief.
